How can we get people to actually use the forum? Any suggestions?

Yup, I'm here. Your post has been viewed 6 times, so at least a few others are around, too!
It's been a while since I logged on, so I'm part of the problem.
Possible solutions:
1. Actively recruit more members for the Guitar Club. Most new members bring a pair of eyeballs with them.
2. Make the Guitar Club web site the default URL in our browsers, or at least add it to the browser's Bookmarks Toolbar. If the web site hits us in the face first thing, we might be more inclined to log in.
3. Got to have a reason for logging in besides seeing who's been there lately. How about putting up cool chord changes that a player can try out, or maybe some interesting chord voicings or licks or technique tips, or record reviews, or performance reviews of local gigging players, or interviews with local players, etc. Not to make the forum a clone of Guitar Player magazine, but we get out of something what we put into it.
I'll stick my neck out and come up with a couple of postings using the above mentioned items. Give me a day or two or eight or nine, though.
Best regards to all,
John Williamson

I was e-mailing back and forth with Kinloch about possibly writing an instructional column for the site. He said that he was all about it but didn't know how to go about it or get it started.

I also proposed the idea of a library of sheet music and tablature comprised of members' donations from their personal collections. Maybe even an audio library as well. I know that I have a rediculous amount of it just laying around. If it were to become a viable option I would have to researh the legal aspect of it to avoid copywright infringement.

I would be willing to spearhead either endeavor but want to make sure that there is interest first. What do you guys think?

For the site or for the forum?

Either or, really. I was talking about the site, but that was before the big push to get the forum rolling. Any thoughts?

Mark,

I like your idea of a column. I am sure Kinloch does, too. Why don't you write a "pilot" column. I would be glad to pass it by the Core group and to edit and post it on the site. We need Ross Bracco for the technical side of where and how to put it and focus attention to it.

The problem with this forum is that it is like pulling teeth to get people to use it. Many issues would be better off here than by e-mail.

Maybe bring the forum up at the next core meeting and ask if anyone has any issues as far as how to use it? See if there's a an actual lack of interest or a technological barrier.
